Russian Cross

 

This unique cross is also re-cast from an antique Russian piece.  Among the many fascinating etchings on the cross are the initials IC XC.  This monogram is composed of the first and last letters of Jesus' name in Greek (iota and sigma) and the first and last letters of 'Christos', the Greek word for Christ (chi and sigma).

 

We have enjoyed pairing this somewhat primitive looking cross with carved Our Father beads to call attention to the wonderful markings

on the cross.
