Seven Sorrows Chaplet Medals
This set of medals has been cast from antique originals that I removed from an old Seven Sorrows Chaplet (Sometimes called Servite Rosary). The original pieces were well loved, as well as quite worn, and the replicas we offer here bear the same mellow character.

The devotion to Our Lady as the Mater Dolores (or Mother of Sorrows), was begun in the 13th century. The medals each show an image of Mary with seven swords piercing her Immaculate Heart on one side, and a picture illustrating of one of her "seven sorrows" on the other:
1- The Prophecy of Simeon 2- The Flight Into Egypt 3- Jesus Lost in the Temple 4- Mary Meets Jesus on His way to Calvary 5- The Crucifixion 6- Jesus is Lowered Down from the Cross 7- Jesus is Laid in the Tomb
The largest medal is 7/8" long and the seven smaller medals are also each 7/8" long (including bails).
