About Our Items

All of our crucifixes, crosses, centers, medals & findings are hand cast in the United States in solid bronze and/or sterling silver. An antiquing finish has been applied (again, by hand) and it is inevitable that the the "look" of the pieces will vary slightly. In other words, the bronze or sterling piece you receive may not look exactly like the one in the photo on this web site.

Care & Cleaning

Both sterling and bronze will naturally oxidize (darken) over time and exposure to air. Some of us do not mind this and think it simply adds to the antique feel of the finished piece. But for those of us that would like a bit more shine, there are a few options for polishing these metal pieces.

The first is to use an old toothbrush and a dab of toothpaste. Be warned, this is the most drastic and will take off most of the finish. The second is to use a regular silver polishing cloth. This (if used lightly) will shine quite nicely (both bronze & sterling). The last is the method I personally use the most and really just buffs the piece without much danger of over polishing. I simply take the medal and rub it vigorously and firmly back and forth over a slightly textured piece of fabric such as denim. It works!
